Fundraising Campaigns

In 2010 we are encouraging Agora members to support selected DBS-related charitable causes - you may have noticed the new Haiti campaign in the Spring edition of our Agoranews. This appeal marks the start of a long-term campaign to raise money for those who have limited opportunities to study. Initially we plan to raise money to provide scholarships for Haitians whose lives and educational opportunities have been destroyed by the recent devastating earthquakes. 

Charity Football Match, 17 March 2010

To launch the fund, MA, MBA, MSc students, alumni and staff took part in a Charity Football event which was held at the Maiden Castle sports facilities in Durham on 17 March 2010. The event was a great success with spectators and players donating £2 each to the fund. Helpfully assisted by MA and MSc programme staff, a collection of just over £250.00 was made. The teams all played that afternoon, with the MAs emerging as champions of the day. Celebrations were then held in Ustinov College, which was also celebrating St. Patrick’s Day!
