Career Network
Durham University
"Shaped by the Past – Creating the Future"
The Alumni Office has been working with the University’s Careers Advisory Service to develop Career Network – a new initiative that will provide students and recent graduates access to Durham University alumni for the purpose of careers information and advice.
The network will be based around the existing Careers Advisory
Service facilities (www.durham.ac.uk/careers-advice) and will enable students
and recent graduates to connect with and learn from alumni established already
in their chosen career field.
Career Network will encourage you to share your experiences and offer careers
information and advice to students and recent graduates who wish to:
learn more about their career areas
gain an insight into specific roles and companies
find out where Durham University alumni are working
We would like to ask you to:
write a report on your graduate training program or entry level
employment
agree to have a conversation in person, on the phone or by email,
with a student interested in working in your field
consider offering a student and recent graduate a day's work placement
or work shadowing
to use your experience to help students and recent graduates to
research and enter their chosen professions
offer experience in areas such as interview technique and
offer to hold mock interviews.
The Career Network will take into account the amount of involvement you wish
to have. It will also enable you to access the web pages, change your profile
and keep them up to date.
If you are interested in supporting students and recent graduates through the
career decision process, please contact the Alumni Relations Officer on 0191 334 6304.
