How do we acquire your information?
A substantial amount of the information we hold is supplied to us when students apply through UCAS for a place at the University and when they enrol for their courses. This is explained in the UCAS privacy statement. We also acquire information from you when you choose to give it to us, either online via the Dunelm Net Community or by email, telephone, in person, in writing, or in response to fundraising campaigns.Any information that we hold about you is treated with the highest standards of care. We want you to receive the full benefits of being an alumnus of Durham University, while also ensuring that your personal privacy is never compromised.What do we do with your information?
We use your information for the following alumni relations and fundraising purposes.
- Sending you alumni publications
- Conducting alumni surveys
- Conducting fundraising appeals
- Telling you about alumni reunions and events which may be of interest to you
- Sending you emails about University news and events
- Providing you with information regarding alumni groups which may be of interest to you
Sharing your information
We currently only disclose your information for two reasons and have robust protections such as encryption in place when your information is shared. We are required to disclose some information regarding recent graduates to the Higher Education Statistics Agency for the purpose of a survey of new graduates. We also share some of your information with our partners within Durham University’s supplier framework in order to facilitate the distribution of our alumni publications. We will only share information about you that is relevant and no more than is required for the purpose. Our partners are subject to rigorous contractual agreements which ensure that your information is always cared for and protected.
You have a number of rights with regards to what information we hold about you and how we use your information. You have a right to object to us processing or using your information for any of the purposes listed above, or you can advise us of any specific preferences you may have regarding how we use your information. If you do not wish for us to hold any information about you, you have the right to request that we remove your information from our records.
