The Student Development Fund (SDF) is designed to support John Snow College's committment to student development in its broadest terms, especially in maximising students' personal effectiveness, intellectual curiority, and sense of belonging and responsibility. The SDF provides financial assistance to members of the JCR in order to support their personal development. John Snow students might use the SDF to fund skills courses, attendance at conferences, expenses for charitable expeditions, and participation in sport, music or art events. Previous successful applications include fees for a Spanish language course to provide support to Spanish-speaking students, participation in a UN Sustainable Development Goals conference, and fees for a Professional Association of Diving Instructors course.Each member of the JCR can apply for up to £300 each year. The process is a competitive one and challenges students to write a strong funding proposal, which is assessed by a panel consisting of the JCR President and members of College staff.
