Information for ConnHEXions

How does it work?

Step 1: Fill in and activate your ConnHEXions profile here. Make sure that you have changed your 'enable mentoring' settings to 'yes', as this will mean that your profile is visible to students searching for mentors. You will need a Dunelm account to do this, and must be logged in.

If you don’t already have a Dunelm account, you can get one here. Please note that if you do not yet have a Dunelm account it may take up to 2 working days for a member of our team to verify and register you.

Step 2: Current Trevs students are able to search for alumni who might be able to help, and contact you to request further advice. If a student sends you a message you’ll receive a notification to the email address you have provided.

Step 3: Click on the link in the email to respond to the student. You’ll be brought to this website to reply. Your response will be emailed to the student.

Step 4: When the student has found out all they need to know from you, they will close your relationship.

Who will contact me?

Current students at Trevelyan College will be able to get in touch with you via your preferred method of contact.

How often will I be contacted?

Students will contact you as and when they need advice, but will be understanding if other committments take priority. It is entirely your own choice whether to continue contact with a student.

What will I be asked?

Usually students will be looking to get a better idea of a specific field that interests them, or will have questions about the best method to approach a field.

What is expected of me as a ConnHEXion?

As a ConnHEXion, you should be willing to respond to students' queries with relevant and useful information on your field of expertise. You are not expected to offer work experience, CV-checking or employment opportunities unless you choose to do so. It is clearly understood by students that you are giving your opinion in confidence and as a volunteer.
