About the speakers

Chris Sale (Collingwood College, Geography, 1981), Managing Director at Prism Executive Recruitment

Chris is an award winning executive recruiter, has worked in recruitment for most of his career and is one of the UK’s most experienced head-hunters. He has handled senior appointments for major ‘Blue Chip’ organisations across a number of business sectors. Prior to founding his current business he established and ran the Management Consultancy and Technology businesses of a major recruitment firm. On graduating from Durham he worked in the retail sector for Marks and Spencer before commencing his career in recruitment.

His business has survived several downturns! So he has considerable experience of career coaching and advice to job seekers in difficult markets and regularly contributes articles and posts on all aspects of this to help both candidates and employers.

Outside work, Chris enjoys walking in the Lakes, skiing, cricket and music.

Valeria Magoni (Van Mildert College, MBA, 2019), Product Marketing Manager at Kaleyra

Valeria has extensive experience in marketing, currently working at Kaleyra in Italy, a global communications solutions provider for banks, retail and e-commerce companies. She is a B2B digital marketing expert with a passion for inbound marketing, ROI reporting, and marketing automation. She loves working with global customers, in a fast-paced industry, discovering and implementing new technologies.

Valeria will be sharing her experience of starting a new role with Kaleyra during Covid-19 and the personal risk element in doing so.

Alessandro Berlé (St. Cuthbert’s Society, MSc. Management – International Business, 2018)

A proud and enthusiastic Durham University Business School graduate, Alessandro has returned to Italy after graduating. Alessandro has a background in Economics and a passion for international business, business strategy and the complexities of contemporary business. He will be sharing his perspective on a new economy and how his employer is approaching recruitment, selection and the interview process during the pandemic.

While gaining valuable professional experience in Consulting and Finance for blue-chip companies, he has volunteered to help the ever-growing Durham University community expand and consolidate the alumni network, and became the Regional Alumni Representative for Italy last winter.

He cherishes every single opportunity to converse about his great time in Durham, and is a dedicated sportsman, mostly on the football pitch and on the skiing slopes.
