Durham Inspired: Live in Lockdown
Organising for Resilience: Understanding the Challenge and Identifying Ways Forward

Friday 5 June 2020 6-7pm (AST)

We would like to invite our alumni in Jordan to a Durham Inspired: Live in Lockdown virtual event hosted by Chapter Leader, Rima Ali, and Dr Christopher Williams, Associate Professor in Management at Durham University Business School.

Resilience currently is a very hot topic given the global threat of the coronavirus pandemic. However, it is a problem that leaders and organisations have grappled with for centuries, and for which there is no one single solution. Based on recent research he has conducted for a new book, Dr Williams will explore what we mean by “organising for resilience” and will discuss both the challenges and the solutions that are likely to be effective in the future.

Dr Christopher Williams is Associate Professor in Management at Durham University Business School where he is Programme Director for the Online MBA and supervises a number of PhD students in Strategy and International Business. His research interests include innovation in international firms and contexts, organisational resilience, and knowledge creation and transfer. Before entering academia in 2007, Dr Williams spent nearly two decades in industry, mostly in innovative and international environments. He has published over 75 research articles and cases, as well as two books on Venturing in International Firms and Management Consultancy for Innovation.
