Mellissa Abdu - Alumni and Supporter Engagement Manager (Volunteers and Networks)

We are delighted to announce that Mellissa Abdu has been confirmed in role as our new Alumni and Supporter Engagement Manager (Volunteers and Networks). This is a brand new role within the Alumni and Supporter Engagement Team and will see Mellissa working with our alumni and supporters to provide meaningful volunteering opportunities to stay connected to Durham whilst supporting the University, its students and global alumni and supporter community.

Mellissa joined the University in 2017 as our Volunteer Development Officer and has been working closely with new and existing volunteers to make a real difference to our institution and the global community we support. Volunteers play a crucial role in the advancement of Durham University through donating their time, expertise and experience to help recruit prospective students, support current Durham students, increase the University’s global brand and reputation and connect the vibrant alumni and supporter community.

As well as making a difference in the lives of current students and graduates and inspiring future generations to study at Durham, volunteering provides unique opportunities to meet new people and develop professional skills and networks. We’re looking forward to developing the volunteering programme here at Durham and we hope you can join us on our journey. There are many ways to get involved throughout the year which can suit your interests and availability.
