Collingwood College Update - April 2021

Woodplayers have been working hard this term to produce their Epiphany Showcase, ‘Off the Stage: A Musical Theatre Showcase’, which premiered on Friday 19 March and can be found here. The showcase was dedicated to fundraising for ‘Acting for Others’, a charity supporting performers and theatre workers in times of need through their 14 member charities. The showcase is comprised of everything from small acting monologues to huge group musical numbers, from well-known shows, to more obscure, underrated ones. All the directing and musical teaching was done over zoom. The release was a huge success, receiving great feedback and reviews, and the cast and prod team are thrilled by the response.

Collingwood College Dance Society have been busy this term organising and rehearsing for their Epiphany Showcase, ‘Through the Ages’. The showcase is comprised of a dance from every era of music, beginning in the 1920s, spanning all the way until the current decade. From contemporary and jazz to tap and musical theatre, the society have been working hard to prefect every style and every move. The teachers have worked hard in their choreography, and the dancers have done an incredible job in learning a broad range of dances. The showcase is due to be released on their YouTube channel after Easter, and can be found here.
