St Cuthbert's Society

The Principal, Elizabeth Archibald, will be retiring from the Society and the University in August 2021. We will all miss her as much as she will miss Cuth’s. The search for her successor is underway, and there is considerable interest in the role, which is encouraging. We very much hope that by next summer we will be able to have some farewell events without the current restrictions, both in Durham and in London. We are missing the usual in-person activities this term, but exciting online events are being planned both by Cuth’s and by the Alumni Association Committee; we hope you will be able to participate in some of them.

I will be very sad to leave ‘the best job of my career’, but look forward to getting my life back, working less hard, and writing a long delayed book.

This is a very challenging time for graduating students and for recent graduates. If you are able to offer any internships or placements to Cuth’s students or new alumni, or would be interested in giving a talk about job options in the field in which you work, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are planning a series of virtual talks next term on ‘What I did after Cuth’s’ and the Career Angels programme will be updated in the New Year. If you would be interested in giving a talk or would like more information about being a Careers Angel, please contact Kath Dodd: cuthberts.alumnirelations@durham.ac.uk
