Ustinov College Update - March 2020

London After Hours – the Acting Vice-Principal, Martin Brader, and Assistant Principal, Katie Stobbs, invite alumni and friends to join them for an informal After Hours event at The Fellow, 24 York Way, Kings Cross, N1 9AA on Thursday 5 March from 6.30-8.30 pm. You can book your place on the dedicated event page of the Dunelm website.

Manchester After Hours – the Acting Principal, Sarah Prescott, will be hosting an informal After Hours event in Manchester in April 2020. Information about the date, time and venue of this event will be confirmed to alumni in due course.

In Durham, the Graduate Common Room and Global Citizenship Programme continue to host a range of events and activities for Ustinovians. Recently, the GCR has hosted Ustinov Live, Karaoke and the Burns’ Night Formal Dinner, which included the traditional speeches, haggis, and after-dinner ceilidh. In addition to these events, the GCR continues to have sporting success - the Ustinov GCR Men’s Basketball Team recently won their match against the Loughborough University Team with a final score of 56-50! The Ustinov College Choir has also recently performed at the Intercollegiate Evensong, where they joined singers from across the University’s Colleges to perform in Durham Cathedral.

The GCP has hosted a range of activities including ‘Music of the Stars’ with Café Scientifique, Food Discussion Groups with the Ustinov Intercultural Forum, and a seminar on ‘Peace, Conflict and the Arts’ led by Café des Arts and Café Politique. Plans for two signature GCP events are well advanced, with the International Dress Party taking place in March and the Ustinov Annual Conference organised for June 2020.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all alumni who have contributed to the upcoming edition of The Ustinovian – it has been great to hear about all of your achievements and successes since graduating from the Graduate Society or Ustinov College.

It is always great to hear from our alumni, and you can get in touch at our dedicated email address.
