Experience Durham - January 2021

As a responsible University, we pride ourselves on being a good neighbour and caring for those less fortunate than ourselves.

In the last 2 months of 2020, Durham University staff and students gave back to the local community in a variety of ways. Supporting organisations who work with families in crisis, volunteers students took part in production workshops to make reindeer dust, snowman soup, rag wreaths and Christmas craft packs for local children to complete themselves. One of the most impactful and thoughtful activities involved sending over 400 Christmas cards to care home residents which proved a hit with both students and the recipients alike. Elsewhere, students created a winter wonderland for local families supported by the charity Beyond Limits and volunteered their time to sort through food donations with Feeding Families.

The great work obviously made a great impression as it was also featured in the Northern Echo newspaper.
