Durham Law School

Durham Law School "In Focus" networking event for commercial law alumni
Clyde & Co hosted the first of Durham Law School's "In Focus" professional networking events. It brought together 40+ alumni working in the areas of commercial and corporate law, an area of legal research where the law school is a global leader. It was a fantastic evening of networking, summed up by alumnus Sean Sexton (Law, St Cuthbert’s Society, 1977-80) who remarked, “I rarely enjoy networking events. I endure them. Last night was exceptional. I was enthused”. We are very grateful to James Major and his colleagues at Clyde and Co for being such generous hosts.

Future events are planned for 2019.

Law School Dean receives double honours
Professor Thom Brooks, the Dean of Durham Law School, reached two firsts for the University. In September, he became the first Durham academic elected as Vice President-elect of the Society of Legal Scholars, the oldest and largest learned society for academics working in law. Brooks will become its 120th President bringing the Society's annual conference to Durham for only its second time. In October, Brooks became the only Durham academic to join an Inn of Court as an Academic Bencher, as he took up the lifetime honorary appointment at the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
