Northern Ink is an exciting solo exhibition of pen and ink landscapes by Naomi Blayney at the iconic venue of Durham Cathedral, until 1 September 2017. New works feature Durham Cathedral's Rose Window, Hadrian's Wall and Ray Lonsdale’s Tommy sculpture.

Jay Armstrong (English Literature, Hild Bede, 1992-96), following a career in the Army and then as a freelance photographer, has set up as an independent publisher of nature writing.

Geoffrey Howard (Theology, John's, 1965-70) has his book 'Wheelbarrow Across The Sahara' back in print and all of the author's royalties and publisher's profit is being donated to the charity, Water For Kids.

John Sharpe (Classics, Castle, 1955-58) is the author of 'The Police and Me'

Dr Peter Preston (Cuth's, 1968) has a website concerning his books.

Dr Anthony Wells (History, Cuth's, 1965-69) published a book earlier in the year by the US Naval Institute Press, Annapolis, Maryland: 'A Tale of Two Navies: Geopolitics, Technology , and Strategy in the United States Navy and the Royal Navy, 1960-2015'.

Baret Magarian (English Literature, Castle, 1989-94) has published a book 'The Fabrications'. 

Dr Dick Potts (Zoology, Cuth's, 1966) was awarded the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds most prestigious medal this year.
