Fundraising for the Future

Ian Marchant, Visiting Professor and BA Economics alumnus launched the School’s fundraising for the future campaign at the House of Lords in June:

"I really enjoyed my three years at Durham.  The education and learning I received has served me so well in my career. I benefited enormously from a free education, in fact I would not have even been able to consider going if fees had been payable. I am now in the fortunate position to be able to help today's generation of students and I find that incredibly rewarding as well."

Ian joins a growing panel of successful alumni who make a vital contribution to Durham University Business School in time, expertise, financial gifts and connections. We urge you to support our campaign and share in our future. This is not just about raising money but also about helping us by becoming a business angel or dragon, by contributing as a business speaker, being an advisor and advocate for the School, or by introducing us to your organisation as a corporate partner.

If you wish to contribute to the ongoing development of the School please contact Dr Anne Allen, to arrange a meeting or call in the first instance.  Of course we would also be delighted if you would like to make a social investment in a Durham student and pledge a gift to the DUBS 50th Anniversary Endowment Fund.  We particularly welcome leadership gifts of between £1000 and £5000 to support student travel bursaries and scholarships.  Please contact us to discuss this further or make a contribution to the Fund online here.

A gift of £1000 will provide a Student Travel Bursary for a postgraduate student. We are actively developing new opportunities for students to undertake business projects and internships in companies in Europe, Asia-Pacific, USA and Canada.

A gift of £3000 will fund an Entrepreneurship Scholarship to start a new student enterprise emerging from our Dragon’s Den and Blueprint competitions within the Centre for Entrepreneurship. Our entrepreneurship modules are now open to students from across the University and we are actively working to support more University spin-outs.

A gift of £5000 will provide a scholarship for a Masters student awarded on merit to students and to support recruitment in new markets.  Scholarships are vital to attract the best candidates.

Please contact us to discuss awarding named scholarships and to work together to develop new opportunities for the benefit of current and future Durham students or view our Fundraising for the Future brochure here.
