Alumno Developments Ltd. Donate Student Travel Bursary Gifts for Solvay Business Games

3 November 2014

Durham University Business School is the only UK in partner in a new alliance of European Business Game through a new partnership with Solvay Business School in Brussels.

This annual competition, a student-led initiative, has been running for 8 years in Brussels and attracts 1600 applicants every year for 400 places from undergraduate and masters business students from 52 universities competing in 6 challenges set by corporate sponsors including McKinsey & Company.

Funding from London-based student accommodation developer Alumno Developments Ltd is enabling Durham University Business School to support up to six students to travel to the prestigious Solvay Business Game competition in Brussels in March 2015 – and to set up a Durham Business Game starting next academic year.

Thomas Huberland at Solvay Business Game said: “We are delighted to welcome Durham University Business School as our only UK partner for the development of the Alliance of European Business Games and look forward to announcing the dates and sponsors for the first Durham Business Game next academic year.

"Durham Business Game will join the established Solvay Business Game and the Business Game St. Gallen (Switzerland). Two other members should also join us soon, from France and Portugal. We hope that students will have the opportunity to experience real-life business in a unique way at Durham for the years to come”.

David Campbell, Director at Alumno Developments commented:
“Supporting access to such an international event and providing an opportunity for the students to participate in the Business Game is very much in keeping with Alumno’s core objectives in supporting the student experience and promoting the knowledge-based economy particularly in locations where we have established interests and key stakeholder relationships.

"We are delighted to support Durham University Business School and its students”.
