Work begins on state-of-the-art sports facility
 
Work has begun on a major new sports and wellbeing facility at the Maiden Castle site.
The £31 million project includes a new indoor cricket hall; a 12 court multi-use sports hall, suitable for international and national competitions; a martial arts dojo; a fitness suite, purpose-built recovery facilities, and high performance weights rooms.

Durham University has received a generous gift to set up a scholarship fund for prospective students living in County Durham. The Brian Cooper Scholarship Fund will provide an annual scholarship to a local student in need of financial assistance.

A recent signing ceremony at Palace Green Library heralded the launch of the Mohamed Ali Foundation Fellowship Programme. Thanks to the generous support of the Foundation, experts at Durham University will be embarking on research in the archive of the last khedive of Egypt, Abbas Hilmi II (1874-1944).
