Events
In his presentation, Joe will discuss issues relating to the ongoing debate that have followed from his appearance in a Channel 4 documentary in 2005, his publication of a book, The Dyslexia Debate in 2014, and much of his subsequent work. TV, radio and press media discussing Joe’s research have reached a non-academic audience of many millions across the world. Publicly available conference presentations, one-to-one interviews, and a Channel 4 documentary that discuss his research on YouTube have received more than 60k views. His most recent Webinar presentation (September 2020), received more than 10k viewings in the first 24 hours, and a forthcoming article on his work is scheduled to appear in The Guardian newspaper in late September 2020.

Joe’s presentation will address the reasons why his scientific research has produced such a significant public response and why, in his opinion, what appear to be clear and incontrovertible findings are ignored, discounted, reframed or rejected by many who find their implications unpalatable.
