Durham Alumni in Tech Networking Event
Tuesday 26 June

An exclusive networking event for Durham alumni working or interested in Technology hosted by Professor Gordon Love, Head of Computer Science, with special guest Matt McNeill, Head of Google Cloud Platform UK & IE, and External Advisory Board member Anne-Marie Imafidon, Co-Founder of Stemettes.

Matt McNeill is Head of Google Cloud Platform business for the UK & Ireland, responsible for the business development, sales and account management teams. He joined Google Enterprise in 2009 as UK & Ireland Industry Head for Retail and worked with foresighted customers such as Burberry, Specsavers, and Ocado to be the first of many retailers to adopt Google Apps for Business.
Matt graduated from Van Mildert College at Durham University in 2001 with a BSc in Computer Science and has recently joined the Department’s External Advisory Board.

Anne-Marie Imafidon is Head Stemette and co-founder of Stemettes – an award-winning social enterprise inspiring the next generation of females into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics roles via a series of events and opportunities. In under 4 years, more than 13,000 girls across the UK, Ireland and Europe have had attended Stemette experiences, an achievement which saw her awarded an MBE in 2017’s New Year’s Honours List.

Anne-Marie joined the Computer Science Advisory Board at Durham in 2016, and has since taken a pivotal role in the development of new diversity initiatives within the Department, including the creation of the Anne-Marie Imafidon (AMI) Scholarships for Women in Technology, an alumni-funded programme which has been named in recognition of her outstanding work in this field.

Professor Gordon Love, BSc PhD F.Inst P.C.Phys became Head of Department of Computer Science in August 2017. His research involves optics and the physics of light. Much of his work has involved adaptive optics which is a technology used in astronomy to improve the performance of large ground telescopes.
