Across the world while church buildings were closed for months, the Church’s worship moved online!
Doing church online is a hot topic massively accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic with church attendance in a number of polls quadrupling. But the central ritual of the Church, Holy Communion or the Eucharist, is still largely suspended for health grounds. For this session, we will be joined by Rev Dr Pete Phillips, Director of Durham’s Centre for Digital Theology, along with other Durham theologians past and present from around the globe. We’ll take a look through the issues facing religious communities and leaders, as well as some of the amazing innovations and creativity that have been found in this unprecedented time, and whether the way we do church might have changed for good, even now that we can tentatively go back into the buildings.
