You are all welcome to join us on Thursday 6 May from 7.30pm to 8.30pm for our sixth instalment of 'In conversation with'. A current student will be interviewing Dr Eleonore Fournier-Tombs about her career.
Eleonore Fournier-Tombs is a data scientist and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and the Coordinator of the Research Chair on Accountable AI in a Global Context. She lectures in data science at McGill University and consults in disaster risk prediction at the World Bank. Her academic work has focused on automated methods for the measurement of political deliberation in the Canadian North and in social media, as well as the impacts of emerging technologies on migrants and other vulnerable populations.
In addition to the World Bank, she has worked for the United Nations in the Human Development Report Office at UNDP and as a senior data scientist for UNOCHA. She is the recipient of the United Nation’s Secretary General Award and has contributed to a number of policy reports involving data and modelling at the United Nations. She is currently an Area Editor for Data & Policy Journal, published by Cambridge University Press. Eleonore is the mother of two boys and lives in Montreal, Canada.
