Durham University Alumni’s multi award winning company named 2019 Northern Powerhouse Export Champion

Munir Mamujee (English Language and Linguistics, St Aidan's College, 1992-1995) recently attended a prestigious event at Durham Castle which also included amongst others, The Rt.Hon Liam Fox MP, Secretary of State for International Trade and Baroness Fairhead CBE, the Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion at the Department for International Trade.

Munir owns Wakefield based education recruitment firm, m2r Education and they have been named as one of the Department for International Trade (DIT) Northern Powerhouse Export Champions for 2019.

m2r Education are a multi award winning company, specialising in the supply of teaching staff to international schools, technical and further education colleges, English language centres and private companies across the globe.

The role of the Export Champions is to promote international trade and help companies who are thinking of exporting to take that next step.

Launching the Export Champion initiative in Durham, International Trade Secretary and President of the Board of Trade, Dr. Liam Fox MP said: “The Export Champion community is an important initiative and its members will play a vital role in creating the culture of exporting in Britain. “By raising the profile of exporters in this way, we will help to normalise exporting across the country, expand horizons, remove barriers to market access and facilitate businesses to expand here in the UK.”

Munir commented, “it is a tremendous accolade for our company and we are in select group of organisations who have been recognised for their achievements and success in export sales. I never thought that when we first set up in 2001, that 18 years later we would be working across the globe with 100% of the revenue coming from our overseas work. It has been a huge effort by the team and one which I am immensely proud of. We look forward to helping new exporters achieve their ambitions by sharing our knowledge, our export story and offering advice. Of course attending the event in Durham was extra special as it brought back such fond memories of my time here too.”
