Global Citizenship Programme

Global citizenship at Ustinov College arises from dialogue and debate, by creating space for voices from across diverse fields, cultures, and personal perspectives to be heard.

We offer a range of ways for members to explore and think critically about complex issues in today's world, and to use insights and experiences to drive practical initiatives in both local and global settings.

The GCP seeks to create a lasting impact on its scholars and the wider community.  It begins with scholars and volunteers forming valuable connections within Ustinov and often working to put ideas into practice in Durham.

However, the GCP continues long after Durham: some alumni return to share their experiences, presenting at seminars and conferences, while others provide career mentoring, fundraising and networking opportunities from all over the world.

At the heart of the GCP lies a srong sense of responsibility to each other, and to our local and global communities.  To return to the words of Sir Peter Ustinov, 'it is our responsibilities, not ourselves, that we should take seriously'.

The Ustinov Foundation, based in Frankfurt and Vienna, is a key partner of the College and the Global Citizenship Programme (GCP).
