Hatfield Association Reunion Weekend & The Master's Retirement Celebrations (30 June - 2 July 2017)

If you have any queries please contact Cynthia in the Hatfield Trust Office (email: c.a.connolly@durham.ac.uk or telephone 0191 334 2620).

You are warmly invited to attend the Hatfield Association Reunion in College during the weekend of Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July 2017.

We hope that you have many happy memories from your time at Hatfield and, for anyone who arrived in Durham from 1996 onwards, one man played a pivotal role in that special College experience: the Master, Professor Tim Burt. Tim has played a strong role during his 21-year tenure as Master and he has served Hatfield, and the University, to the fullest.

Sadly those days are now drawing to a close, as Tim is preparing to leave our beloved College at the end of the current academic year, retiring with his wife, Elizabeth, to enjoy life in Devon.

To celebrate Tim’s time as Master and mark this key moment in Hatfield history, you are warmly invited attend his farewell celebrations.

The weekend begins with the Tim and Elizabeth Burt Black Tie Dinner on the Friday evening. Professor Robert Allison, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, will be our guest speaker (College Fellow, former College Mentor, and Professor of Geography).  This is your last chance for some spoon-bashing to welcome Tim and Elizabeth to the table.

Saturday's climax is the grand Goodbye Garden Party in College from 3.00 - 11.00pm, which promises to be a truly special occasion, full of fun and Hatfield spirit. There will be a delicious afternoon tea, an evening barbecue and a late-night ceilidh (what else?!) followed by a rousing rendition of College songs. There will also be a performance by College’s very own band, Kinky Jeff, and professional photographers on hand to capture those special moments with friends throughout the party.

We anticipate 300 Hatfielders attending, with a large representation from ‘Tim years’, so you are sure to see some friendly faces with whom to re-live your time at College.

Accommodation is bookable on Friday and Saturday nights, in Hatfield - perhaps even in your old room!

Tim would be delighted to see you for one last time as he says a fond farewell to Hatfield.

Please use the online booking form to make your reservations at this special weekend. The deadline for bookings is Friday, 16 June.
