Lioness Scholarship

In honour of the 30th anniversary of the first women students at Hatfield, the College has established a fully funded scholarship for a female postgraduate student from a developing country where access to higher education for women is limited.

The Lioness Scholar lives in College and become an active member of the College MCR, whilst studying for a master's degree at Durham University. The scholarship pays all University and College fees together with a substantial allowance towards living costs and costs associated with arriving in Durham

We are pleased to say we welcomed our first Lioness Scholar in the 2019-20 academic year and look forward to welcoming two this coming academic year (2021-22) after a decision to defer last year during the pandemic. However, funding for future scholars relies on the generosity of our alumni and friends.

With your help, we can ensure that the Lioness Scholarship can continue to be offered to an aspiring and talented female student.

30 years after we first opened our doors to women, we remain committed to the idea that access to education is a basic right, not a privilege; we aim to be open to every gifted student who aspires to join us.

We invite you to lend your support today and help us to fulfil this aim.
