Christmas Drinks in LondonDecember 2019In December 2019 Acting Principal Lee Worden, Acting Vice-Principal Rose Newman, JCR President Giorgio Rand, and MCR President Ben Vickers went to London for Christmas drinks with our alumni. It was great to see so many people there, and from such a variety of years!
On Tuesday 21 November, we were joined in London by a considerable number of alumni for a marvellous cocktail evening at The Driver in central London. This was the first alumni event since our outstanding 50th anniversary celebrations, and was a wonderful way to continue the success of last year’s events programme. Professor H Martyn Evans gave an entertaining summary of recent developments in College, and a fantastic time was had by all. Keep an eye out for our upcoming events in your email inbox, and we hope to see you soon!

Trevelyan College held a Service of Thanksgiving in Durham Cathedral in honour of the 50th Anniversary. This was a wonderful occasion and it was a real privilege to welcome so many alumni back to College and indeed to take part in leading the Service. It was a particular honour to welcome Sir Thomas Allen, Chancellor of Durham University to read during the Service and to sing in collaboration with Trevelyan College Chamber Choir, who gave a splendid performance. We were especially privileged to welcome members of the Trevelyan Family to our college and reinstate the connection between Trevs and the Family. Following the Service, afternoon tea was served back at Trevelyan College before the Celebratory Concert took place. It was a delight to see so many current Trevelyan Students perform from all of our Musical Groups to our guests, parents and alumni. The standard of performance was commendable and the students were delighted to have been given such a prestigious performing opportunity. We were really privileged to have Sir Thomas Allen sing in our concert as a soloist and alongside Chamber Choir and Chamber Orchestra. This was a very special occasion featuring music by Sir Malcom Arnold who composed the Trevelyan Suite for the opening of College in 1966 and Peter Hurford’s Music, whose grandson was Music Rep at the College in 2017.
