The Vera Society

In January 2020 we welcomed a new College Principal, Professor Adekunle Adeyeye. Kunle is a physicist and is joining us from Singapore, where he was founding master of Ridge View Residential College.  

As we enter a new chapter in Trevelyan’s history, we would like to review the ways in which we interact with our alumni. To this end, we have created a society that will recognise our valued donors. The Vera Society, an association for our regular donors (anyone donating £100 or more each calendar year), is named for the College motto, vera fictis libentius (truth more readily than falsehood) – and, thanks to a competition in the 80s, “Vera” the swimming horse in the crest. The Vera Society will replace the 1966 Club and all members of the 1966 Club will automatically receive membership. We will be writing to all members individually in the coming weeks to extend this offer in person.

We would like to invite all new Vera Society members to join the SCR, and will be making priority seating available to you at all major College events such as Summer Ball and Handover Formal, should you wish to attend.

All events are currently suspended due to Covid-19. Once normal scheduling resumes, we will be circulating events calendars to all Vera Soc members.

To thank you for your donation, and to strengthen our bond as a community, we will be hosting Vera Society dinners in College. We envision these Vera Society dinners becoming an annual event at which we can welcome valued members of the community back into College, sharing both memories of the past and visions of the future. We hope to see you there.
