Durham moves up in QS World University Rankings
 
We have once again been named in the world’s top 100 universities. In the QS World University Rankings 2022, which rank 1,300 institutions across the globe, we’ve moved up by four places to 82nd position. We have also risen a place, to 6th in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2022.

CASE Silver Award 2021
 
Our Development and Alumni Relations Office team are thrilled to have been awarded the global Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Silver Award for an innovative 'Birthday Greetings for Donors' initiative led by Senior Development Manager, Lauren Bradshaw. The programme was used to steward existing donations and showcase their impact, celebrate nostalgia, and raise awareness of the opening of our new Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science Building.

From Wednesday 28 July to Sunday 1 August, twenty-seven companies are putting on one hundred and eleven performances in 4 great venues in Durham City. There’s magic, dance, stand-up, an aerial act, two bands, 5 new music showcases, cabaret and some great theatre.

Class Notes
 
Natalie Hiller (Natural Sciences, Van Mildert College, 2010-13) has been included in the Disability Power 100 Shortlist - a list of 100 of the most influential disabled people in the UK. The award recognises her work to improve the perception of disabled people in the accountancy profession.

In an interview with Poets & Quants, a leading global MBA business school media channel in the USA, Nour Mouakke (Marketing, Ustinov College, 2009-11) tells his story from moving to the UK to studying in Durham and from working for a company to starting his own business.

Dr Rebecca Webster (Psychology, Van Mildert College, 2010-13) has been recently recognised by Forbes 30 under 30 Science and Healthcare list for her research into the ‘nocebo’ effect and its relevance to health behaviours during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Oliver Zeffman (Modern Languages & History, St Aidan’s College, 2011-15) commissioned eight different new pieces from eight composers, and persuade eight singers to perform. The pieces — collectively known as Eight Songs from Isolation.
