Durham Alumnus Sponsors Students in China Enterprise Trip

David Arkless, CEO of Arklight Consulting is helping a group of Durham students to establish a student-led enterprise trip to meet top businesses in China.  Durham members of the China Student Scholars Association are organising the trip which will involve students from five UK universities - Durham, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College and LSE.

Jock Wishart Heads Campaign to Race in World Solar Challenge, Australia 2015

Adventurer, sportsman and explorer Jock Wishart&nbsp turns business angel to help Durham University students to fundraise to compete in the World Solar Challenge. The race, the biggest of its kind, takes place in Australia next year and is part of the run up to the 175th anniversary of Bede College in Durham University where Jock was an undergraduate student.

Sir George Russell CBE Makes Donation to the DUBS Student Investment Club

Following the popularity of the stock trade exercise that has been running on the MSc Finance programme for many years, the School established a genuine investment club with the help of a £5,000 donation from alumnus Sir George Russell CBE (BA Economics 1955/58). Here, the current Student Chair, Adrees Nazir (MSc Economics & Finance 2013/14) explains how the club has evolved and how the alumni network might be well placed to take them to the next level.

Alumno Developments Ltd. Donate Student Travel Bursary Gifts for Solvay Business Games

Durham University Business School is the only UK in partner in a new alliance of European Business Game through a new partnership with Solvay Business School in Brussels.

This annual competition, a student-led initiative, has been running for 8 years in Brussels and attracts 1600 applicants every year for 400 places from undergraduate and masters business students from 52 universities competing in 6 challenges set by corporate sponsors including McKinsey & Company.

Funding from London-based student accommodation developer Alumno Developments Ltd. is enabling Durham University Business School to support up to six students to travel to the prestigious Solvay Business Game competition in Brussels in March 2015 – and to set up a Durham Business Game starting next academic year.

CITIC Sponsor DUBS China Corporate Forum Event

Durham University Business School (Durham), part of one of the UK's most prestigious universities, Durham University, hosted an exclusive corporate forum in Shanghai last month in coordination with its sponsor, CITIC Pacific.

The event, which was entitled World Economic Outlook and its Impact on Chinese Investment, was held at the Langham Hotel. Part of a series of forums aimed at the international business community, the event was attended by students, academics and leading members of the business community and offered insights into the growth of China’s foreign direct investment (FDI) abroad, particularly in Europe.

Bryan Morton Supports New Start Grid Accelerator for Student Entrepreneurs

Successful entrepreneur Bryan Morton,Chairman of Aircraft Medical, ReNeuron, Glide and Oxford BioTherapeutics and former Founder and CEO of two very successful Pharma companies, Zeneus and EUSA, has been pivotal in expansion of entrepreneurship at the University. He visited Durham University Business School in October to meet new MBA and entrepreneurship students.
